Our annual theme for 2024 here at Faith is the word ‘together’.  Last week our whole staff met in an opening session where we explored the idea of togetherness.  One of the ideas we looked at was that shared in the Bible in the book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 4, verses 9 to 12.  It reads;

Two are better than one, for if one fails the other is there.  Two can keep warm when the night is cold.  Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

We are designed to be in community, to be together.  Christians understand God to be a triune God, three in one.  The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are in eternal communion with one another.  Being made in God’s image means not necessarily that we look like God, but rather, in part, that we are made to be in communion with each other perhaps.  We are together people, and people together.

I love the idea that a cord of three strands is not easily broken.  Teacher, student, parent, we work best when we work together.  Home, school, community, we work best when we work together.  I think the old adage that two is company and three is a crowd may not be correct in all instances.  The Bible reminds us that a cord of three strands is not easily broken.

This year we will focus on our college as one community, two campuses, one school together.  We will continue to work across both sites as we are able, bringing our big kids to our little ones and vice versa.  When we are all in the same place at the same time something special happens here at Faith.  Consider our wonderful Carols evening last year, what a great moment that was.

So, welcome to the new year, to 2024.  Here at Faith we are so excited to launch into all that it holds for us.

Together.
